Progressive Book Path operates from a single, reachable office. We believe publishing guidance works best when you can sit across the table from someone who has read your draft. Our door is open for authors at every stage — from a half-formed idea to a polished manuscript seeking the right route to print.
Whether you write fiction, memoir, specialist non-fiction, or academic work, our editorial team shapes your project with hands-on rigour. No templates. No conveyor belt. Every manuscript gets a bespoke reading and a frank assessment before any plan is drawn.
Not every book needs the same intervention. Use this decision matrix to identify where your project sits and what kind of support will move it forward most effectively.
| Your Situation | Recommended Service | Typical Duration | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Idea stage — no draft yet | Concept Workshop | 2 sessions over 2 weeks | Structured outline, chapter plan, and feasibility assessment |
| First draft complete, unsure of quality | Developmental Edit | 4–6 weeks | Detailed editorial report with structural and narrative recommendations |
| Revised manuscript, needs polishing | Line & Copy Edit | 3–4 weeks | Clean, submission-ready manuscript |
| Ready to publish, confused by options | Publishing Route Plan | 1 consultation + follow-up | Personalised roadmap: traditional, hybrid, or independent |
| Published but not reaching readers | Visibility Audit | 2 weeks | Actionable report on metadata, positioning, and outreach gaps |
We don't take on more than nine active manuscripts at a time. This isn't a marketing claim — it's a practical limit that ensures every project gets the attention it deserves. If our schedule is full, we'll tell you honestly and offer a realistic start date.
Our editors have backgrounds in literary fiction, academic publishing, and commercial non-fiction. We don't pretend to be experts in every genre, and we'll refer you elsewhere if your project falls outside our competence.
"I'd been sitting on a memoir draft for three years. One consultation at their office — just ninety minutes — gave me the clarity to finish it in four months. The developmental edit that followed was the most useful feedback I've received in twenty years of writing." — Declan F., Limerick (memoir, published 2024)
We prepare your query letter, synopsis, and sample chapters to meet agent and publisher standards. We review submission lists with you and advise on timing and targeting.
For authors who want full control, we coordinate the editorial, design, and distribution steps. We don't publish your book — we make sure you can publish it well, with professional-grade output.
We work with trusted local designers and typesetters and can introduce you directly.
Some publishers offer shared-cost arrangements. We help you evaluate these contracts, distinguish legitimate partners from vanity operations, and negotiate terms that protect your rights.
Monographs, edited collections, and research-led books have different editorial needs. We provide structural editing, reference checking, and guidance on university press submission protocols.
If you can tick most of these, you're in a strong position to benefit from our services. If not, our Concept Workshop can help you get there.
Describe where you are with your manuscript and what kind of support you're looking for. We respond within two working days with an honest assessment of how we can help — or whether someone else might be a better fit.
